Electricity and Water Saving Policy

We use our energy efficiently and set goals to reduce our energy consumption in order to protect our world from potential dangers.

By considering the simple suggestions below, you can save energy in your workplace and contribute to environmental sustainability while reducing your expenses.

  • Ensure that the energy used in your office comes from renewable sources whenever possible.
  • Choose energy efficient electronic devices for your office.Check the status of the heating and air conditioning devices in the building you work in; check the heating and cooling settings of these devices, and carry out relevant renovation and improvement operations.
  • Keep the temperature of your office at 18-20°C in winter and 24°C in summer.
  • Place air conditioners in places that do not receive direct sunlight.
  • Keep doors and windows closed and turn down the heating during the winter months unless you need to open them.
  • Do not cover radiators and avoid unnecessary heat loss.
  • Make sure your office is lit by natural light as much as possible.
  • Use the right type and size of lighting for your work environment. Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps or energy-saving bulbs.
  • Choose motion-sensitive detectors and time-adjustable devices to adjust the lighting service.
  • If large areas are illuminated by the same switch, divide these areas into sections so that they are illuminated by several separate switches.
  • Turn off non-safety lighting outside of business hours.
  • Regularly check devices such as generators and air conditioners that are used for heating and cooling in the office and have high energy consumption to ensure that they are operating efficiently, and perform the necessary maintenance or replacements in case of increased consumption.
  • Set timers to turn off electrical office appliances at night.
  • Mobile phone chargers continue to draw current and consume energy even after the charging process is complete. Unplug the charger from the socket immediately after charging the phones.

WHAT CAN WE DO AS INDIVIDUALS TO USE WATER SAVINGLY?

Kitchen:

  • Ten percent of the water consumed at home is used in the kitchen. You can reduce your spending by paying attention to a few points when using water for cooking, cleaning, washing and drinking purposes.
  • Instead of washing your vegetables and fruits under running water, wash them in a bowl. Reuse the washing water to water your flowers later.
  • If you put vinegar in the first wash water of green leafy vegetables such as spinach, purslane and chard after cleaning them, they will be cleaned more easily.
  • Use the least amount of detergent possible when washing dishes by hand. Less detergent is easier to rinse. Fish and other marine life will be even happier if you use natural green soap instead of detergent.
  • Do not let the water run in vain.
  • Heat only the amount of water you need, which will save you money on electricity and gas.
  • After you place the dishes you washed under the tap on top of each other, start rinsing them. You can clean them with less water.
  • When you hand wash, you can save your dish rinse water and use it to pour it into the toilets.
  • Run your dishwasher only when it is fully loaded.
  • When boiling vegetables, use enough water to cover them and keep the lid on the pot. Your vegetables will cook faster and you can save energy.
  • Do not throw away the pasta and vegetable boiling water, you can use it in your soups.
  • Do not hold frozen food under running water to defrost. Leave it to thaw in the refrigerator overnight before use. This will be a healthier option.
  • Cover the hot water pipes with insulating material. You will not waste water by turning on the tap while waiting for the pipes to heat up.
  • Make sure that the thermostat setting on your hot water system is not too high. Trying to warm overheated water with cold water is a waste.

Washing:

  • 15-20 percent of the water we spend at home is used for washing clothes. Laundry uses not only water but also energy and detergent.
  • Run your washing machine when it is full. This way you can save up to 10 litres of water per wash.
  • When hand washing laundry, you can wash the whites first and then the colored ones in the same water.
  • You can use the leftover water from the laundry to mop the floor or pour it into your toilet.

Bath:

  • The most water is spent in the bathroom at home. 40 percent of our daily consumption is in the bathroom.
  • The easiest way to save water in the bathroom is to install a water-saving shower head and flush. When you shower for 6 minutes, you will use up to 50 liters less water in each bathroom with the economical shower head.
  • While you wait for the bath water to heat up, fill a bucket with water.
  • When you want to wash, choose to take a shower rather than fill the tub.
  • If you want to bathe in the tub, fill it only halfway.
  • Fill your bathtub by checking the temperature of the water. Warming up hot water later causes water waste.
  • Don't let your bath water run. You can use it to wash your car or flush it down the toilet.
  • Take shorter showers. Limit your washing time to soaping up, washing and rinsing. Don't use your toilet as a trash can and throw away anything you find. Don't flush unnecessarily.
  • Do not leave the water running while brushing your teeth or washing your face. This way you can save up to 10 litres of water per day.
  • Rinse your razor in a bowl of water, not under running water.

Faucets:

  • If your taps are dripping, make sure to have them repaired. Dripping taps cause 30-200 litres of water to be wasted per day.
  • Place containers under dripping faucets to collect water.

Garden:

  • Choose the cooler hours of the day to water your garden and flowers. Morning and evening sunsets are better times. If you water in the midday heat, you will lose most of the water through evaporation. When watering your flowers, act in a way that you will only water the flowers, not the sidewalks.
  • Plant native plants that are suited to the climate where you live. Native plants can grow with less water and less maintenance.
  • Sweep sidewalks and floors with a broom instead of washing them with water.
  • During dry times, you can place containers in your garden or on your balcony where birds can drink water and bathe.
