Located in the Inner Batu Anatolia Section of the Aegean Region, Kütahya has reached the Republic of Turkey with the civilizations of the Hittite, Phrygian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Germiyanids and Ottoman Periods in its known history. The oldest known people who settled in the lands within the borders of Kütahya province are the Hittites.
Despite this, archaeological findings in the surrounding area take the settlement history of the province back to ancient times.

The history of Yoncalı thermal springs dates back approximately 800 years to the time of the Seljuk State. According to legend, during the Anatolian Seljuk State period, the most beautiful woman of Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad II named Gülümser caught a skin disease. Over time, sores called ulcers cover his entire body. All the efforts of doctors cannot find a cure for this cruel disease. Gülümser's beautiful face and skin deteriorate day by day. His hair falls out and his son becomes ashamed to go out in public.
The Sultan asks his father to send him to a place away from people. Even though Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad II did not want it, he fulfilled his daughter's wish and came to the area we call Yoncalı today, at the foot of Kirazlı Mountain, with his guards, bridesmaids and servants.
